Jackie’s World
Jackie’s World is a non-profit organization aiming to help children with special needs by providing them a better childhood through peer-to-peer interactions, donating books and toys, raising awareness, and more.
Special needs can refer to a wide range of conditions that may affect a person's ability to learn, communicate, or interact with others. These can include physical, developmental, emotional, or learning challenges. In many cases, these children are unable to receive the right educational support or materials that can help them flourish due to the lack of awareness and lack of monetary support across the world. It is important to recognize that every child, regardless of their needs, has unique strengths and abilities. With the right support, we can help children with special needs live the life that they deserve.
Our Story
Jackie’s World was founded by Jane Hu at the age of 16, inspired by her younger sister Jackie, who was diagnosed with autism at just three years old. Growing up, Jane saw firsthand the unique joys and challenges of raising a child with special needs. She also saw how much it meant when Jackie was included, supported, and truly understood.
She watched Jackie navigate a world that wasn’t always built with her in mind. But along the way, Jane also encountered incredible people—teachers, therapists, aides, and volunteers—who offered not just support, but kindness, patience, and understanding. Through her sister’s journey, Jane found herself immersed in a vibrant community.
Wanting to give back to the very people who helped shape her sister’s world, Jane founded Jackie’s World, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting children with special needs and building a more inclusive, joyful future for all. In its earliest days, Jackie’s World began with a few simple drives such as donating books and toys to local elementary schools and special education programs.
Today, Jackie’s World is growing—expanding its programs, launching student-led chapters, and organizing events to deliver joy, sensory tools, and comfort to children with special needs. Though still in its early stages, the organization reflects a mission close to Jane’s heart: to build a world where every child feels seen, supported, and celebrated.
Jackie’s World continues to grow thanks to passionate volunteers, dedicated supporters, and a belief that small acts of care can lead to big change.
